Navigate to the newly created DVD drive and copy all files and folders except for syslinux to the USB flash drive. Right click on archlinux- version -x8664.iso and select Mount. So, again besides the downvotes - this works. Partition the USB flash drive and format it to FAT32. Sometimes friends (or nephew in my case - for school) unfortunately needs to have windows installed and this is an easy solution. The easiest way is to use the answer to this SuperUser Question.
#UNETBOOTIN WINDOWS.ISO INSTALL#
It takes some time to write (more than usual, you may think the program has stalled) but i have used this method to install Windows 8.1.Įdit: Alright, i understand this is r/linux and there is bias and anything with Windows is downvoted, but this works. Note: /dev/sdb1 may be different than yours, type the drive path given to you by Unetbootin (in the second step above) when using terminal to remount the usb
#UNETBOOTIN WINDOWS.ISO ISO#
This will write the ISO image to the USB. Then hit "OK" on the still-open UNetbootin. If UNetbootin complains the USB device was unmounted, keeping UNetbootin open, in terminal type: sudo mount /dev/sdb1 /mnt - then hit enter. Doing so, UNetbootin will think you are using a FAT32 partition and will let you use NTFS format. Now, go back to UNetbootin, which you've left open in the meantime, and click "OK". If GParted doesn't automatically add the "boot" flag, add it yourself Select the Diskimage radio button, click to select a bootable ISO image. Next, download and launch the UNetbottin utility.
Note down the device name since we will need that later. Select your USB drive from the left panel and click on Info button. Leaving UNetbootin open as is, reopen GParted Plug a USB drive into your Mac and open Disk Utility. dev/sdb1 - i.e just before you'd click "OK" to install, but don't install the ISO yet If you already have Unetbootin installed on your computer then skip to the next step (2). Open UNetbootin and get it as far as the stage where it brings up the USB partition to install to e.g. The following assumes you are working from within Windows and have a current copy of the ISO you wish. You'll need Unetbootin and GParted installed. Make a Live Linux bootable USB UNetbootin Windows. Otherwise download and install Unetbootin on your MS Windows computer. In this case i used Linux Mint 16 (and also tried it Ubuntu 14.04) using an 8GB USB drive. If you already have Unetbootin installed on your computer then skip to the next step (2).
